Bob Ooten I bought leather belts, which do not wear out like big box store belts that cost much more.

Hodgepodge Thrift Store - San Rafael - San Rafael

Rating: 4 /5
JoAnn SkyWatcher I have been a fan of thrift stores since first started buying my own clothes. Something Ive learned is that its best to shop at thrift stores in communities that are more affluent than neighborhoods that have less money. This afternoon we stopped by San Rafael (an affluent area) to pick up some lunch. My partner pointed to a thrift store that was across the street from the restaurant, and said, "theres a good thrift store," (he had passed it by before, and noted that it probably had some really good stuff. That store was Hodgepodge, and he was correct. They have really nice items, that they sell for very reasonable prices. The volunteers there know how to create beautiful displays, too. I was looking for a pair of bell bottom pants, but couldnt find any--darn. I also had to promise myself that I wasnt going to buy anything besides bellbottoms (because my house is already FULL). I LOVE this thrift store!!! They offer really nice items (some very unique) for reasonable prices. The staff was both friendly and helpful. And the proceeds go to help with hospice care in Marin County.

Pacific Trading Co. - Santa Cruz

Michelle Steiny I love the store! I have been shopping there for 20 or more years. There is a store in Capitols next to Gayles Bakery and a store on Pacific Ave—Pacific Garden Mall. When I was in college, I could only afford to buy one or two pieces a year and generally combed the sale rack. Even then the people who worked there were helpful and made it really fun.I remember when I got my first job, I was able to buy two or three outfits. I was so happy and every time I wore one of the outfits, I felt great. Now Pacific Trading Company is still my go to store. The clothes are beautiful, they carry styled for all body types and all ages. The staff is helpful and when needed, can be very diplomatic. I love everything I have from the store. Some things are 8+ years old and I still get compliments. I go there when I need clothed for work, clothes for play, and when i have a special occasion and when I need a special gift for family to friends.

Mercy Vintage - Oakland

Rebecca Halas This place is so cool.Everythings hand picked and in great condition. besides the unique items I love their amazing flower arangements. They use wild flowers instead of a florists.Theyve got gucci wallpaper in the dressing room and beautiful dresses ,shoes, jewlry etc. They are known for vintage designer clothing but its affordable. They have some mens clothing ,the type youd want your guy to wear. They buy from the public. They pay well for designer vintage and unique items that are in good condition.Just bring in whatever you want theyll do the rest from there.Check out their instagram its got models that work in the store and always on trend!

leilani valenzuela A hidden gem and I love this place! Has great curated vintage for everyone. My boyfriend and I always stop here on the way to Tahoe and on the way back! We always find multiple pieces and they’re also very reasonably priced compared to the typical vintage stores in big cities. The workers are also very polite and chill, they’re great people, left my purse and they went looking for me to hand it back. Stopping by this place will always be my favorite part of traveling to Tahoe.
