2 /5 Diane J: Very concerning checkout experience
I had a deeply frustrating and concerning experience while trying to purchase a Patagonia jacket that was marked half off. At checkout, the cashier repeatedly told me my credit cards were being declined. However, after calling my banks immediately, they confirmed no transaction was ever attempted and nothing was declined, flagged, or blocked on their end.
Despite this, the cashier insisted my account had been “hacked” and continued to refuse the sale. I had sufficient funds, multiple cards, and bank confirmation, yet the transaction was never actually run. The situation felt unprofessional and raised serious questions about how checkout issues are handled. As a business especially one connected to helping animals the customer trust and ethical conduct should be a priority. Unfortunately, this interaction left me feeling dismissed and uncomfortable rather than helped. I hope management reviews this experience and provides better oversight and customer service training going forward. I have a feeling she did not let the multiple cards run, so she could purchase the Patagonia for herself. I give 2 stars because they help animals, but it is very unfortunate a corrupt cashier is running the counter. This happened around 1:30ish to 2ish pm Martin Luther King Day. (I own a business and know there is a way to have card reader to not accept card) i was watching her and saw she used that trick.
