1 /5 Balls Deep: I usually love Patagonia — great gear, great people, no drama. But the Tahoe store really tested my patience. I stopped in while on vacation and picked up a pullover. All good…until checkout. I was told by the older female cashier they’d “run out of bags,” but lucky me — I could buy a reusable one.
I’m all for sustainability, but if you don’t have bags, that’s a store operations issue — not an upsell opportunity. I’m already paying for the product. The absolute bare minimum is: help me leave the store without juggling my purchase like a street performer. What am I going to do, hold it in my hand and walk around?!
Only after it became clear I was ready to scrap the whole transaction did a tiny bag magically appear and the pullover was crammed into it like a sleeping bag packing demo gone wrong. It was baffling and frankly terrible service. This worker needs serious coaching and to understand her job is to serve the customers.
Would I shop Patagonia again? Of course. Would I visit this location again? Never.
