1 /5 Kristen Chamberlain: Came into this store to shop and upon entering the store I was not greeted, which was fine as I saw the associates talking to other customers.
As I continued to look around I noticed that the associates were checking on every other customer in the store (60 year old women), and never once asked me (late 20 year old), if I needed any help, was finding everything okay, needing a dressing room. Not even a smile or eye contact.
I found about six item in the store that I wanted to try on and wandered around the store trying to find someone to help me get a dressing room until I realized they were all, once again, talking to other customers. Finally l walked to the register, ready to ask for a dressing room to the only person I could find that wasn’t busy, and was cut off by one of these 60 year old women saying “I’m ready to check out” and the cashier rung her up despite the associate and the customer noticing I was standing there first needing help.
I finally left the store after feeling not wanted and once again, was not acknowledged with a “have a good day” or anything.
I do not expect to go into a store and be treated like royalty but I very much felt like I was being disregarded due to my age. For women who work at a clothing store you think they’d be sale associates at Hermés with the judgey vibes coming from the business.
