1 /5 Angel Jackson: We went to the store on January 19th and purchased almost $400 worth of clothing. The cashier asked us if we wanted the credit card. My husband and I both said no thank you, then she started her sales pitch. He caved. I was completely done with the entire interaction as soon as the cashier said “well I don’t know if you work or not but we can always help you apply for a Kohol’s credit card”. Why would we shop at a store if we didn’t have the funds to pay for the items? Why did she have to imply that we were both jobless?
So I had to go back today, January 20th to return one shirt for a larger size. I purposely avoided the cashier from yesterday, but the other cashier was just as rude like I know the return policy or something! I asked her if she wanted to hold the shirt at the register and she said “no just take it with you because there’s no guarantee that will have the same shirt in that size”. But I was in there yesterday, so I knew there was the same shirt in the larger size. I just went and switched it out for the shirt size that I needed and left the other one on the rack because no one told me otherwise. When I returned to the register and she asked me where the other shirt was, I said I put it back on the rack and got the size I needed. She then laughed in my face as she touched my arm and said “oh no ha ha that’s not what we do here”. So I had to walk all the way back over to the rack. Get the original shirt off of it bring it back stand in line again and luckily, I got a third cashier at this point. She was way more helpful than the other two ladies and didn’t make me feel disrespected or like I was somewhere I didn’t belong. However, there was an issue with the return so they wanted to load the return back onto the card and start a whole new transaction for the new shirt even though it’s the same price. So they do the return for $42 and change and ring up the new shirt for $72 dollars and change. Needless to say I was a little taken back because that’s way more than we paid for the original shirt. Come to find out we had 40% off from opening a credit card yesterday and they didn’t want to give me the same 40% off for the same shirt in a different size the very next day. All of the staff that I interacted with other than the one nice lady are very PRETENTIOUS and acted like I was in the wrong place doing something I shouldn’t be doing and it really made me feel like I wasn’t welcome in the store.
Kind of like that scene from pretty woman when she walks into the high-end boutique on Rodeo Drive and they treated her like she didn’t belong, but she had all this money to spend, but couldn’t spend it. Huge mistake HUGE! And I only say that because I needed three formal gowns for the black-tie parties that we are going to be attending in the near future. I had a budget of $300 apiece to purchase these dresses, but I will gladly go somewhere else where I am welcome!
As for me, I will never step foot inside of a Kohl’s ever again. And that credit card we signed up for will get paid off next Friday and never used again and seeing how most of Kohl’s clientele are older they’re eventually not gonna around to purchase things from you anymore and you’ve already made the next generation feel like they’re not welcome in your store. So enjoy bankruptcy.
