1 /5 Samuel Sartain: The day after Christmas I attempted to shop here. I am a local of Apalach. I know that most stores in Apalach open between 10 and 11. It was 10:15 the lights were on and when I peeked through the window I saw a lady behind the counter. The Closed sign was still turned. I tried the door and it was unlocked. I figured they just forgot to flip the closed sign to open. When I opened the door the “lady” behind the counter so very rudely yelled at me “we are closed…don’t you see the sign on the door….we open at 11.” I will never ever shop there again. I will never ever recommend the store. I work in downtown Apalach and am often asked for my recommendations…this store will not be one that I recommend. Shamefully there are numerous reviews relating the same encounter…the only thing I can guess is that it is the owner of the establishment that treats her potential customers in this manner…or she doesn’t care that her employees treat her potential customers in such a way.

1 /5 Ashlynn Farmer: The cashier is very rude and did not speak the whole time we were there. They looked at us crazy when we walked into the store, guess we did not meet their standards. We went to check out and was 30 cents short meeting the minimum for card and cashier was very rude. She did not apologize about it and just simply looked at us like we were idiots and tossed our item to the side. We had the cash and did not mind using it but when you treat your customers poorly they most likely won’t give you their hard earned money. I think it’s time for her to find a new place of employment that does not deal with the public. We will not be back.

1 /5 Holli Kussow: We have been staying a week a year on the Cape since 2019 and Apalachicola has always been one of our favorite places to visit. I wanted to go to Riverside Mercantile to find a fun birthday gift for a friend back home. The internet said it opened at 10:30am and we got there at 10:20 and walked around for 15 minutes. At 10:35 we headed back and the door was unlocked and the lights were on but the closed sign was still flipped. I went inside along with two other customers that I was not with. The owner or salesperson heard us and came darting up from the back emphatically telling us the store was NOT open until 11am. One of the other two ladies explained that the website said 10:30. The owner said very rudely, “Not our website! I can’t control google. We open at 11!” and she shooed us out and locked the door behind us. We all stood outside and looked at one another and were stunned by the rudeness. One of the women said this was the second time she or family members were treated this way. This was once a favorite stop for my family and friends we have brought, but we will no longer be patronizing this establishment.

1 /5 Angela Gilbert: Terrible customer service. The cashier was extremely rude. My daughter and I came in to return a romper that my daughter bought 2 weeks prior. She accidentally got the wrong size. Tag still in place. The cashier told her they don’t do refunds and she could exchange it for something else in the store but now that romper is on clearance so she would only give her an exchange for the cost of the romper now. (3 dollar difference). The whole time the cashier with a very bad attitude. They didn’t have the size my daughter needed so she found a hat that was 3 dollars more (would have been the exact same price as what she originally paid for the romper). My daughter pulled out her card to pay the three dollar difference and the cashier told her she can’t do an exchange with a card. It would have to be cash so my daughter told her she would run to the bank to get cash. (Seems crazy The cashier wouldn’t just call it and even trade since that was the exact price my daughter paid for the romper). So after my daughter ran to the bank to pay her her three dollars, she just hands my daughter the hat. My daughter asked if she could put it in a bag (just a cheap store bag) and the cashier said.” I’m sorry I don’t remember you bringing in your item in a bag.” Gave her a terrible attitude the whole time and then about a bag.?!! Finally she puts the hat in a bag and grudgingly hands it to my daughter. Sorry if you hate your job or life, but maybe you shouldn’t be in customer service. We will never be back.

5 /5 Dalton Andress: This gift shop was one of the best that we visited in Apalachicola! It was very neat and easy to navigate. The prices were good and the staff was very friendly! Overall, I definitely recommend stopping here and looking through their selection of different items!
