Humane Society of Blue Ridge Thrift Store - (Near Blue Ridge, GA)

2 /5 kasey Loftis: I have been here 3 times and twice had somewhat of a negative encounter. The first time when I walked in at about 3:40, someone had held the door open for me as I walked in. The woman at the counter sees me walk in but says nothing. Not even 3 minutes after being in the store, the woman comes to me and rudely says they are about to close. I said, "Oh I didnt know." She once again rudely responds with "Its on the door!" Since someone had opened the door for me, I did not see the time and most places close at 5, so I was not expecting them to be about to close. When I walked in, she could have easily greeted me kindly and said "just letting you know we will be closing soon." I came in the other day and picked up a few items and they had hand-written price tags on them. When I get to the counter, I am told those are not their price tags and that the price of the products are actually more than the price. So remove those tags! And youre telling me that youre charging more for an item than it cost in the first place? Either remove those price tags or honor that price. Just the fact that these items have been bought and sold multiple times to have thrift store price tags tell me that its used enough to not be sold as if it were new. I also noticed several, and I mean almost everything I saw from the second visit was still there on my third visit which had been months apart, which tells me items are not moving at the prices they are anyway.

1 /5 Tye Brown: I’ve been shopping at this thrift store since they were in their old location about a mile down the road. Ever since they moved, the prices have skyrocketed. I understand this is an upscale thrift shop, however, they look up every item on eBay and price it at that price shown. I think this is a terrible way to do Thrifting, especially since this is a nonprofit thrift store that generates funds for the Humane Society. I hope this store produces their prices and makes thrifting more affordable for people who need it, not the tourist!

2 /5 Nicole Dammarell: Prices are absurd. As a local, going in here feels like a joke, making me feel like its priced for the rich tourists. I try to shop here and every time I hopefully go in, I walk out with nothing but frustration and disappointment. Another review mentions that ita not junk stuff and dont expect junk prices- however when theyre asking $6+ dollars for a plain walmart t-shirt and $10-20 for basic handbags, 10+ for wallets...youve gotta realize that they are unreasonably overpricing things. And yes not to mention they get all of this for free, so. I upcycle clothing and literally cannot afford to buy even the actual cheapest brands and items here. This is a real shame because I do like the place in general, and the items as well as the Cause and i try to support but I just cannot. Taking my business elsewhere.

2 /5 Lucy Elric: Update...... One year later. Thought Id give it another try. Nope. Prices are still astronomical!! Remember, all this stuff was donated. For FREE!! WAY OVER PRICED!! Gave 2 stars as the volunteers did a great job organizing and displaying items, but dang, this isnt supposed to be an antique store, its a thrift store.

5 /5 Donna Bollenbach: If you are in Ellijay or the surrounding area, you should take the time to visit this great thrift store in Blue Ridge that benefits the area Humane Society. I have never seen a thrift store like it. It is very well organized and everything is staged like little antique shop booths. The locals call it "Macys of Blue Ridge" because many of their donations are from generous affluent residents of the area. I noticed a number of reviewers complain about the prices, but I found most items in line with other chain thrift stores. Some of the furniture and high-end items may seem high priced, but they are high-quality, well designed pieces that are well worth the asking price. I could completely furnish a mountain home (if I had one) with furniture purchased there. For the rest of us, quality, name brand clothing can be found for 3 to 5 dollars, and somewhat more for the top of the line clothes. Small household items, crafts, books, and other typical thrift store items are also priced competitively. And they do have sales. When I went, everything was 10% off. I think it is like any thrift store, you need to go often to get the best deals. The all volunteer staff are very friendly and sales benefit a great cause.
