1 /5 Stephanie Maddox: ***Update*** Please note that I have sold to this store in the past, and as I mentioned in my original review, they have a good selection of name-brand merchandise. My comments regarding their customer service are in response to an aggregate total of what I’ve experienced over the past several years of shopping with them. There have been MULTIPLE occasions where the employees have been rude, including last month when I sold at least one item to them. If I am mistaken, and the blonde woman behind the counter who was rude to me yesterday was not the owner, then I apologize. However, her attitude and that of the other employees is still reflective of the present ownership.
As the owner does not know me personally, I’m not sure that she would know when I was or wasn’t in her store browsing her inventory. I have been stopping into this location for at least 10 years, since before the store rebranded. At one time it was one of my favorite stores, and one of my older purchases was a pair of faux leather pants in 2023 which I purchased for the Eras Tour. Since then, the rude staff and ridiculous prices have deterred me from buying much, though I have made it a point to visit often.
While I don’t expect consignment shops to keep their prices as low as typical thrift stores, I do expect them to consider the quality/make of the items they are selling, not just the name brand. Like I said: their polyester pieces are overpriced. I hope they get their customer service and their inventory quality up to the level their shoppers deserve. Otherwise, they’ll have to continue blocking anyone who desires to leave negative feedback on their social media accounts. (My comment on your business Instagram reel said: “Owner was rude. Wouldn’t recommend.” If this is the type of “negativity” you’re trying to avoid, then perhaps do something about the poor customer service so many reviewers have experienced.)
Again, I’ve never experienced any issues at their sister store, Plato’s Closet.
***Original*** While there is a large selection of merchandise, this store cares about name brand, not quality. They overcharge for items made of polyester. I also agree with other negative comments regarding the store’s overall attitude and customer service. After multiple visits, I’ve found that employees consistently have mean-girl energy, which I believe to be a reflection of the owner. She’s the worst one, and has been disrespectful on more than one occasion. Plato’s Closet is right next door to Style Encore, in the very same shopping center, and I’ve never had an issue with their customer service. I would recommend selling your clothes there instead, or at Uptown Cheapskate across the road.
