4 /5 Kristina Nicholson: I’ve been taking Rachel’s ride class at Crunch in New City for almost two years now (it’ll be two this April), and I wish I had written this review sooner but was waiting on some facility changes before I did.
Rachel is truly the reason I continue to go to this location — and stayed. Her ride classes are motivating, fun, and perfect for every level, from beginners to advanced riders. Her playlists are amazing, her energy is contagious, and she genuinely inspires you to push past your limits. Because of her, I’ve grown so much stronger — mentally, physically, and even spiritually — and I’ve met an incredible spin community along the way.
As for the facility itself, there’s definitely room for improvement. The spin room floors are rarely vacuumed or mopped, and it can get very stuffy during peak hours — a better ventilation system for the main and upper floor and more fans would make a big difference.
The paper towels are often low or empty, which can be frustrating, and while the staff are generally friendly and helpful, it doesn’t seem like cleaning happens regularly.
I personally avoid the bathrooms and showers because I’ve never seen anyone cleaning them. If there is an overnight cleaning crew, they really need to come more frequently to keep the gym fresh and sanitary.
A suggestion would be to add a sauna instead of the tanning option, as well and I wouldn’t mind paying more money if that was an option.
Overall, Rachel’s classes are five stars all the way — she’s the heart of the New City location and the reason I keep coming back. I just hope the facility upkeep and cleanliness can start to match the level of excellence she brings to every ride!
