Desperado - (Near Herkimer, NY)

1 /5 Rosco Coltrane: Bought a hat a year prior at this store and due to a series of unfortunate events I found my felt cowboy hat misshaped. Rather then mess with reshaping it myself I called to see if there was anyway he would be able to help me. He stated that "Well if you bought it here then I informed you how to properly care for it correct?" and I informed him I forgot how to do it myself, but he decided to cut me off and state "In my 32 years of business are you telling me I forgot to tell a customer?" "Its simple anyone could do it, I am not turning on my steamer machine in the summer" I kept trying to get any word in but he kept cutting me off and became irate with me. All I wanted was to know if he could assist me, but instead got yelled at by a grown man over the phone. I would not recommend anyone to go here until this gentleman learns how to control himself and not be so unhinged. If it was possible to give this business a 0 out of 0 I would.

5 /5 JR K: Great experience. Upon walking in and having our first interaction with the owner, My girlfriend and I had concerns of ending up as “skin suites” in his back room collection. That ominous feeling was quickly dispelled when we realized he was just a character. We walked around the store and everything I wanted to buy was listed as “not for sale” except for a really cool belt I found … I was told by the owner that the belt hadnt fit me since 1996… he then threw his head back and laughed out loud about how my stomach was a keg and not a 6 pack…i then asked a single question in reference to his line dancing and DJ business thing he was going on and on about but he said I ask too many questions and half jokingly asked if I was cop. We didn’t buy anything but had a fun experience. He did have really nice boots that were unique and not just standard shit you find at tractor supply….maybe I’ll come back and try to buy a pair if he eventually decides to sell them

1 /5 sirgreifalot999 sirgreifalot999: Literally the most uncomfortable experience in my life owner referred to me as “boy”. Spent a grand total of 3 minutes shopping before he said “I’m trying to eat lunch and you guys are just wasting my time”. Had intentions to buy but that left almost immediately. My absolute worst experience at any small business. He would ramble on and say the same thing over about how his shop has been there for 31 years over and over. Then tried to brag about how much all of his jewelry costed not only did nobody ask or say anything he would just keep going and going. He’s just another creepy wannabe cowboy. I would not recommend ever stepping foot into this store.

5 /5 John Soltiz: I went to buy a new hat. The owner measured my head and said he didn’t have my size so he has some more on order so I will go back. I appreciate that he didn’t just try to sell me a hat that wasn’t right for me. I got a pair of good quality Laredo boots that fit me perfectly and at a reasonable price. Owner is very knowledgeable about boots and hats and everything in his store. He stayed open for us when it was after closing time. Looking forward to going back for a hat that fits. He also cleaned that hat I had on for me.

1 /5 joanne Foley: The owner/sales assoc. Was extremely creepy. He made my skin crawl. All I wanted was a medium size cowboy hat for my boyfriend. The man literally wouldnt shut up about himself and dont bother touching any of the hats because he "doesnt allow anyone to "play" with his hats" I couldnt get out of there fast enough. He obviously doesnt want the business. I do not recommend this place.
