1 /5 kiley armstrong: I was given a sweater from this store for my birthday by my husband. When I took it out of the bag, I realized I needed a smaller size and noticed a small pink mark on the shoulder. Less than a week later, I brought it in to exchange it.
While I stood in the store, an associate texted with a manager who was not present. I was told the manager reviewed security footage of the original purchase and denied the exchange because she could not see a stain in the footage. Based on that, they refused both a return and an exchange.
I called my husband and he immediately called the store to speak with the manager and was told she was not working today, and would have to wait until tomorrow.
I find it concerning that a manager was reportedly able to locate and review security footage of a specific transaction within minutes, yet was unable to take a phone call regarding a customer issue. This experience was extremely disappointing and felt dismissive and transactional. I expected a much higher level of service from a Hill Country Mile boutique, especially for a simple size exchange within a week of purchase. The experience felt more like that of a tourist trap retailer.
ETA: manager called us and said that because my husband looked at the sweater prior to purchasing they would not allow an exchange despite it being unworn and tags on. No clue if he missed the mark or if the associate/counter/bag had something on it. She told us that if we’d “done things differently” they would have exchanged it. The only reason we even spoke to her was because we asked to, in reality their decision was final the moment I tried to exchange it. She said if we posted negative reviews she would post videos of my husband shopping (??). So I guess buyer beware! There are loads of other boutiques in Boerne that won’t leave you out $70 for a defective purchase.
