Coast Guard Exchange - (Near Galveston, TX)

5 /5 Amphib Aav: Though not as big as other base exchanges, the overall experience shopping there is very good. They have a decent selection of cigars, wines, beers, alcohol plus nice items for the ladies. All tax free. I bought a Coast Guard Base Galveston ball cap there. The small base itself is clean, manicured and everything labeled with signs. To top it off, we hit the BLACKTHORNE GALLEY for some excellent well balanced chow at 4.61 each. They really load you up. The galley is on the same floor as the exchange. GO THERE!!! CIVILIANS ACCEPTED. It reminded me of my days in the USMC, but take your tray and clean up after yourself like any chow hall. The staff, Coast Guard volunteers, exchange people are very polite and courteous. This place is a well kept secret.

3 /5 Mark Handy: I have mixed emotions concerning the customer support at this location. Had my first visit to buy park tickets and was mistakenly sold the incorrect tickets. Went back to resolve it and the manager and store clerk were very defensive. We were not asking for a refund, but just to make changes and pay the difference. They were stuck on their policy that we signed the paper confirming the order, although the clerk made a mistake as well by not verifying what we asked for, therefore they couldn’t help us “wouldn’t help us.” They also stated had we caught the issue the day of purchased they could have helped us then. Purchased them on Saturday and went back Monday morning. This is my first time visiting this location, I was excited to find an exchange close to home that sold park tickets. We have been purchasing all of our tickets in the past from Shades Of Green. But after this experience I am going back to Shades of Green. You can order tickets from Shades of Green and have them shipped 1st class with signature for $15. I used $50 in gas going to Galveston twice. Nonetheless, we called Universal Studios in Florida. Explained our situation and Universal said they will honor the military discount and upgrade our tickets for us. Make sure you triple check your tickets before you sign their form at this location. We were just looking for help or options but I felt as if they were just being blowing us off as they were trying to get work done in the store we were an inconvenience. Quite sure this has happened here before based on their reactions.

5 /5 Rome Guzman: Went in to purchase theme park tickets. Lady running the place was nice and knowledgeable. Store was clean and stocked. Drove 2 hours to shop here, would definitely do it again.

5 /5 Jen Comp: We stopped by to purchase Orlando Universal Studios tickets and Arista was super helpful assisting us with this purchase. She also gave us a discount for opening an account with them. We received a $10 discount on any item in the store. Definitely recommend stopping by.

4 /5 Anthony Belton: Nicely organized facility with uniform items and basics + large selection of alcohol. Not the size of AAFES exchanges on Army/Navy/Air Force bases but this is a smaller base. Friendly staff and you can use the star card.
