1 /5 Stephanie Ayala Villarreal: My mother-in-law went to drop off some items to donate and had all of her Christmas decorations in the back of her trunk as well. One of the workers kindly helped her unload the donations, but unfortunately, he also grabbed her Christmas items that she did not intend to donate. When she realized what had happened and returned the next morning, the staff and manager refused to give her items back, even though she had just dropped them off the day before and they admitted that the Christmas items hadn’t even been unloaded yet.
The manager, Griselda, stated that my mother-in-law would have to buy back her own decorations if she wanted them, even though they were mistakenly taken. She was also told that employees go through the donation bins before the items are brought out to the public, which feels extremely unfair and unprofessional.
It’s heartbreaking that she lost all of her Christmas decorations, which are things she’s had for years all because she was just trying to do a good deed by donating. Her Christmas tree will now be bare because this location and its management refused to show compassion or help correct an honest mistake.
I hope Goodwill addresses this kind of situation and ensures other customers aren’t treated this poorly in the future.
