With Home Depot, Lowes, Ace and some other large national chains, Hardware is a very difficult space to compete in. I buy hardware almost daily and have for over the past 30 years! This is the single best independent Hardware - Lumber Yard - Farm/Ranch Supply location I have ever seen! HIGGINBOTHAM BROTHERS has a corner location just off the main i10 mega route in Van Horn Texas. About 270 miles east of El Paso and 775 miles west of San Antonio, Van Horn is a bit remote to say the least, however, this also keeps their prices extremely competitive because of local income demographics. Moreover the people are just great and actually kind of charming. You can see they hire some of the younger , nicer, smarter young adults for cash register, inventory and loading work, yet they have the very knowledgeable mature hardware types around to discuss the latest in power tools, pneumatics, lighting or whatever you may need. And I do mean whatever! Pricing and selection are just as good if not better than any large city Home Depot. Tool Prices and selection are better than any ACE or even Wal-Mart. When near VanHorn you need to check out this location. Go in say hello to one of the really pretty charming young ladies and contemplate you next project. If you listen closely you will hear what the real cowboy ranchers are working on way out in West Texas Permian Basin region... Try the new Dewalt Power Drill with all the attachments you can almost drill for and strike oil! :-) Thanks for reading... 5 /5 Lonny Hillin: This is a great hometown hardware store. Kelly, the manager, and his staff are always courteous and helpful. They all know the exact location of the item I am looking for each time I go in to make a purchase. The store carries a large inventory, which makes it very convenient for us rural shoppers. The prices are very competitive. Hardware, electrical, plumbing, custom color matched paints, they have it all!
