They had a beautiful selection of jewelry, I had picked out a gorgeous pair of earrings for $65, pulled out a $100 bill and the cashier started saying something about running to the bank, and then said she couldnt take the hundred. I wanted to pay with cash, because I spend less that way! I told her that was unacceptable, and I left. Its very important to be able to accept cash from people if you run a store!

1 /5 Richard Stearman: I was shopping today and found several items I liked and was excited about purchasing. I waited quite a time for my purchase to be correct, no fault of the new employee. When the employee needed help...manager/owner, was on the phone and did not inquire further to help. I waited patiently, and in the mean time, a man that wanted to purchase a tea towel, hung it back up and said, hope the phone call was important! There were 2 customers waiting behind him, one left, one stayed. I finally, made my purchase and hope Im not charged twice. Beyond disappointing, on the response to correct it, and a no thank you, for waiting. I am a great patron of Pt. Townsend, for decades.

1 /5 D B: I hesitated in writing this review. People will assume I am too sensitive or exaggerating. My experience is important. Initially as I entered I was followed to the back where the purses were. I was there to by a gift for my dear friend. She followed me and never asked if I needed help. I selected my item and headed to the front. A team member by the name of “Blue” (she said) was extremely offensive and inappropriate to me. She asked if I was returning when I obviously was not as the other employee had followed me and saw me select it. Then asked if I wanted a bag for the 100 dollar purse. Of course because I had been there many times before I know they typically wrap your items and place them in a bag. I requested them to gift wrap it as I know they offer that as well. My sons saw some earrings they thought our friend would like so we began to look. The moment I touched a pair she said “those are 49 dollars”. After her telling me the price of something when I had not asked or my children asked, I simply responded that I didn’t request a price. (I often experience this at stores and restaurants and I find it odd and assumption based). From there her behavior declined and showed her ignorance, including telling me to set my earrings down on the counter after I tried to hand them to her, then snatching them out of my hand, and my debit card from me. In front of my kids. I told her to stop speaking to me, informed her that she was embarrassing herself, and she continued to mutter. I stood up for myself, requested owner info which she refused and instead tossed a card across the counter for the other store at me and said “you might find the owner there and she will love this story so be my guest”. At that point I declined to purchase anything there. I have no reason to believe I was treated this way for any other reason than the way that I looked as I watched them help customers before me with a smile and helpful nature. I am a black woman. When sharing my story with the owner my experience as a woman of color, I was patronized and gaslit and offered a hug? Then she text my personal phone with a generic “we all have work to do” and when I responded forwarded my text to the employee that did this. I know this because she accidentally text me instead. I then requested she stop contacting me. Imagine my surprise when I come to write my review and see that other people have experience the same thing. I am so disappointed for not checking reviews years ago when I started shopping there. Thanks for reading. I am not exaggerating, I am not over sensitive and this owner and her staff simply need to do better as Olympia is continuing in its diversity. Honestly an awful experience that upset my boys and they understand we did nothing. The next 5 stores were lovely and my boys even commented on how great everyone was. I am leaving this review to reflect the trend in ownership and be representative of what POC in both areas may experience.

5 /5 Mollyh: My favorite clothing store. The space is light, airy and colorful, the longtime staff friendly and always willing to give honest feedback. The clothes -- a really wide selection from elegant to fun to - what? used! Yes, they even have a selection of lightly worn togs in back. And amazing shoes and jewelry.
