T.J. Maxx - (Near Davis, CA)

5 /5 Kimberly Griffiths: This T.J. Maxx in Davis is one of my favorites. The store is always clean, well stocked with great merchandise that is high quality and is priced well. I appreciate their hair product, purse and pet sections the most. I am able to purchase high end hair care for a fraction of what I would pay at the salon. They also carry purses by Kate Spade and Steve Madden. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Its a nice place to shop.

1 /5 Sue: Rudest people ever!!! There is one fabulous manager named Bridget. Shes the best, kind, helpful & knows her stuff, especially the store merchandise. She seems to be the ONLY one who "gets" what customer service is & delivers it every time I interact with her. Its to the point that I call ahead to find out when shes available cause if shes not in, its sure to be a hassle. They will not make any accommodation whatsoever if the customer is disabled or elderly. At Christmas I asked for assistance, was refused flat "no, we dont do that" so no kindness, compassion, never mind the $1000+ I was spending. GUESS Maxx never heard of ADA or had an elderly grandmother in need of assistance! How would MAXX feel if everyone available refused to help her clearly disabled elder (76)? That elder left the store in so much back pain from lifting multiple piles of heavy stacks of clothes-- that she could not even get out of bed to eat dinner much less use the bathroom. She couldnt reach her Doc given closures for the holiday. She missed being able to see her brother & nephew as she spent Xmas in bed, in excruciating pain. Same for 2 weeks following and still not healed to full movement capacity. Many shoppers tell me they "love TJ Maxx" - - but NOT the DAVIS store. They make the trip to Vacaville or Sacramento so as to get their TJ MAXX fix (great merchandise) but will NOT set foot in the Davis store. Sad, so sad! Dont seem to want to do better???

5 /5 Leanne: I love shopping here. Unfortunately I shop here too much but that’s another story. Honestly my favorite place to pick up gymwear I’ve also come across some great NBA gear and all clad cookware. There’s always great deals to be had here. The staff are super nice, i feel like a few of them have been there for as long as I’ve been in Davis. They’re always super friendly and nice. I do wish they didn’t have to try sell that credit card so heavily but I know that’s just them following orders. Frankly for how much I shop here it eventually made sense to get it. However, before I did, I always hated having to tell them no. It’s kind of an annoying conversation to have repeatedly especially when I first moved here as an immigrant with no credit history! The store is generally always tidy, gets new stuff regularly and is easy to find what you’re looking for in.

4 /5 Theodore Harrison III: Nice clean store. There was lots of parking, including two handicap parking spaces with van access. The store has nice bathrooms. It has a good selection of merchandise and the store appears to be restocked regularly. Like most stores, there is a lack of cashiers but overall it is a very nice store.

1 /5 Stasia Sutton: I recently had a very upsetting experience at the Davis location when I asked a manager for the price of a necklace that wasn’t marked. When she told me it was $20, I said that was more than I wanted to spend and tried to hand it back. She replied, *“You don’t get to just name your price,”* which felt unnecessarily rude. Not only that, but I am allowed to tell them things are out of my budget, so in a sense, I can decide what my price points are? I calmly told her that her comment was rude — because it was — I have a right to stand up for myself when spoken to disrespectfully. Instead of de-escalating, she told me I was being loud and needed to calm down, even though I wasn’t yelling. Other customers began staring, and I was humiliated. The manager then hid behind the security guard as if I were a threat, even though I never made any threats or acted aggressively. I left feeling shaken, sad, and deeply disappointed. No customer should be treated that way for declining a purchase or asserting themselves.
