2 /5 Shari Trumbull: Everything was fine, I really enjoyed shopping and exploring this darling little store, until I evidently became the exception to their seemingly canned policy statement of "Youll be called when your piece is finished".
I have two separate occasions of not being called or even communicated with.
The first instance I called to check on my project at the 3 week mark, and was immediately and defensively given the canned statement-"Well, we call you when its ready." I then said that were at the 3 week mark and I was just wondering. I got transferred to one of the very nice longarmers and low and behold, my quilt was ready and was asked "Didnt anyone call you?" Obviously not.
(BTW-My first longarmed quilt came out perfectly, because someone was there to intake it and took care of filling in the technical side of the form.)
This second time, I waited 6 weeks until I called to inquire and I was met with the same rude, defensive and canned response of "They call when its finished." This time I explained that my project is at the 6 week mark. I got transferred to another nice longarmer who had to ask someone first, called me back and said itll be finished in 3 days.
I dont want to get into the haphazard way a quilt is checked in for longarming, and this second time I was left alone to fill out the paperwork... I did ask for special variegated thread but I forgot to ask for batting, which I didnt realize until after I picked it up. Thats on me and I accept that.
When picking up this second piece thats already been there for 6 weeks, I felt I was lucky because Miss D herself was there and I thought Great-I can let her know about not getting called in a timely manner and that maybe I should have been called at some point within the 6 weeks my latest piece was there, for an update or something. That was my thought.
Well, with being the only one, it seemed, working the store-shes cashing customers out, helping others with whatever was going on in the classroom area, plugging in earphones to charge for others, I guess I picked a really bad time to attempt to bring up the couple of "issues" I had, specifically with the rude phone calls.
She basically shut me down, got defensive about my piece just getting finished and that I had just been called. What she failed to comprehend is it was there since June 26 and the call to pick up happened August 11. She didnt seem to want to hear about how her employees answer simple questions/requests on the phone either.
Now, when I got home with my piece and got to looking at it, I was like "Hey, theres no batting". Unfortunately, I didnt fill out the batting line in the quilt check-in form. I made an assumption that it would be provided. My screw up there completely.
But, I did decide to call Miss D and asked about it anyways and Im rudely met with "Well, its written on the form no batting."
I told her that I did not write that (as I took a picture of the check-in sheet with my project that I left on a table with a bunch of other projects.) and she snapped back "Just bring it back and well fix it".
I had her on speaker and her tone was also noted by my husband. He didnt think I needed to be spoken to in the manner in which she did.
Yes, Yes, Yes-She seemed a bit overwhelmed when I was there earlier, but
I was dumbstruck by her rude response.
Ive been nothing but courteous and patient when in the store and Ive spent quite a bit of money in Miss Ds Quilt Shop in the short amount of time Ive been shopping there.
Ive even gotten Lindsi to smile during one of my visits!!
I just treat people nicely and with respect.
I felt horrible after my phone call with Miss D. Why am I, the customer, the one left feeling horrible?
I dont know how I can step foot in that store again after today.
Had Miss D listened to me today, I wouldnt have written this review.
