5 /5 Sunny King: I have only known the store Clothing Matters for a year now but it has been such a life changer. It has opened up my eyes to the harmful effects of fast fashion, the modern clothing industry and how the clothes I put on my body affects my health. I wouldn’t haven’t learned about those effects without the help of the amazing owner Marta, she is very knowledgeable about the items and the knowledge she is trying to pass down. Even when she wasn’t there the other wonderful staff are such a blessing. Overall this is such an amazing place to shop and learn about the effects of the clothes you put on your body.

5 /5 Matthew Curry: This store is awesome! I went in shopping for gifts for the family, ended up buying two items for myself. Purchased a pair of Marino wool socks , very thick, l love these wool sock! Also bought the most comfortable tee shirt that I own. Saw lots of eco friendly clothing, but ran out of time for further shopping. Definitely looking forward to returning and shopping more. I also like that they bag your purchases in a biodegradable bag. This is a great place to shop for eco friendly, comfortable clothing. Highly recommended.

2 /5 HM: I want to be able to shop here from time to time (I have four items from them in my wardrobe from when they were connected with Nestology), but I hate the proselytizing guilt trip I get from the owner every time I go in. Today she accosted my teenage daughter with in-depth information about how terrible her wool socks are for the environment, and kept approaching us even when I asked her to just let us look around. I go in here and get scolded by a woman who doesnt know the first thing about me. I think the owner should have more common sense and empathy. These are high price items that most people cannot afford for their day to day wardrobe.

Knowing that the clothing is created sustainably and will last for years and years and that we are actively spending money in alignment with our values is such a blessing. So grateful to have met Marta, we will definitely be going back!

5 /5 Lauren Niergarth: Most amazing place to get consciously created clothing! They have an amazing selection of new & vintage hemp, linen, organic cotton and wool. Also - pieces that they sew! A small business that encompasses what it means to be eco friendly. Truly an absolute gem of Grand Rapids that you’d expect to see in a much larger city!
