1 /5 Ashley Scott: Sad to post this, as I don’t believe I have previously left a poor review. I prefer to share great experiences, but felt after the experience in this store it may help others. My husband purchased several blouses for me for Mother’s Day and I tried them on in store. Each were lovely and fit great. After returning home I took the tags off the blouses as I planned to wear them for work that week. I noticed one blouse had a four inch hole in the seam that I had not previously realized. Luckily, I had set the tags on a shelf and brought it in when attempting to return/exchange. After arriving to the store, my mom and I had noticed the front door was locked and found it strange they were not open. We turned to walk away and then noticed another lady walking up to the store. It was an employee who unlocked the door and proceeded to go in. I asked if they were open and she shared they were. I found it very odd that she would walk up after noticing there were customers wanting to come in to the shop, yet didn’t encourage us to come back. After explaining the situation with my top and sharing that the shirts were purchased only a couple weeks prior, she said she was unable to help as we didn’t have the receipt. I asked if I could provide her with a credit card statement showing the date and cost of purchase and she said no. Given that I have shopped here many times, have enjoyed the items I purchased, I just assumed the shop would be flexible and helpful. I respect the shops policy and didn’t argue this, just simply asked if there was anything else that could be done- and unfortunately the employee was inflexible and less than friendly. Furthermore, my mom asked if she could speak with a manager or the shop owner and the young lady shared that she was the manager/owner. Interestingly enough, I have spoken with this woman before and she shared that she had gone to school for counseling, yet decided to change career paths to come work in her mother’s shop. Guessing retail and customer service was a better fit for her, although it certainly didn’t feel that way today. Being an entrepreneur myself, helping clients/customers is my favorite part of the job. Today reminded me that not every “manager/owner” provides the same levels of customer service to their customers. As previous reviews have stated, make sure to note that exchanges cannot be done unless you have a receipt.
