2 /5 Catherine Brannon: This evening I arrived to the Burlington NOW, store to shop for the holidays. I walk in, pass sliding door. There is a black divider squared off block g entrance with no greeter. I’m confused of what to do! I turn to leave. A security employee “welcomes me” I turn and enter pass the “now opened section” I see the accessories are so cluttered and the jewelry is arrayed. The other sections of the store is being organized and clean. I was assisted by a kind employee with the toys. I was in the store for almost 2 hours shopping. I went to check out. The customer service attitude changed. The employee was complaining that the store “front end has no sanitation disinfectant wipes and has not had any since last week, she continued saying no tissue, no paper towels.” I had to put a clothing outfit back because she literally wiped her nose with her left hand and then wiped it in the size 5 outfit. She never greeted me, never thanked me. I had to ask questions. I interrupted the two employees complaining to ask the return policy. Being spoke in a loud tone too, by the associate she said “now that I have my phone number i. The system I have 45 days from today to return and items that are gifts including if they are damaged or not working.” She was. Not able to provide gift receipts. She was just hygienic gross and disrespectful. They complain about layaway infront of guests and embarrass customers while preparing items for layaway. Please educate etiquette to your employees and managers! I’m sorry that I had to reject purchasing the cute outfits. I also know she had a women come and put it back on the shelf. Beware!

1 /5 Jones Jones: You essentially treat your customers as if they are thieves. You have blocked both your entrance and exit, which is a violation of OSHA regulations. Because you are a corporation, you seem to believe this behavior is acceptable. I will never return to your store again. I have reported your establishment for what is clearly an open violation of state law, and I hope you face penalties for it.

1 /5 Alyson Kiehn: Weird store..theyve blocked off half of it and now product is literally dumped all over the floor. Oh and the security is ridiculous. Being stopped at the door to make sure Im not a regular thief makes me not want to go back. I did read another comment about stopping "people of color" but its all people. Im white as white gets and got stopped as well. Just felt weird. I wont go back...here or Ross either. This pic of shoes was a "clean spot"...the toys are 10x worse. I have to be careful not to trip on product as I went through. Completely dangerous and unorganized.

1 /5 Rosemary Gathecha: I had one of the most upsetting, disrespectful, and blatantly racist experiences I’ve ever encountered at this store — specifically involving the security guard and the handling of a return. I originally visited the store a day prior, where the employees at the register kindly informed me that for my return, a manager would be required, and that I could come back on Monday when one was available. I appreciated their guidance and came back the following Monday, well within the return timeframe. However, things took a sharp turn. As soon as I explained the situation to the cashier, the manager began communicating indirectly through the security guard, stating they would not be processing my return — without ever speaking to me directly. This was extremely confusing, as I was within the return threshold, confirmed by one of the store’s own associates . When I asked for clarification, the security guard informed me that the manager was “on break for an hour.” I let him know I’d wait outside and return. As I was leaving, I politely asked for the manager’s name, and the security guard told me, “I can’t tell you.” I then asked for his name, and again he said, “I can’t tell you.” I left the store feeling disrespected, profiled, and completely dismissed. The way I was treated — denied transparency, access to leadership, and basic respect — was deeply troubling. It was not just unprofessional, it felt personal and racially charged. I fully understand that the store is moving locations soon, but let me be clear: this current management and security team should not be the ones leading or representing the new space. If anything, this experience proved that they are not equipped to run a productive, respectful, or consistent store. Leadership and security need to be retrained or replaced — because no customer should be treated the way I was.
