5 /5 Alec Winters: Visiting Carmel with my birthday- woman wife and my Norwich Terrier, moving downhill to the beach past many interesting shops. Seeing the Somewhere sign in front of the bright and cheerful shop, stopped in tracks by the sentiment and message of the name and culture of Somewhere!! I get up every day only because I might have adventures I don’t know about until they present themselves. By its nature Somewhere promised to be about what I crave and need to stay alive and energized. I’m smitten! I enter. I’m greeted by a young woman who is as bright and cheerful as the storefront. We traded stories and learned that we had both had delightful experiences in many places including Alaska!!! Mother Nature awe and joy and danger all the time- aurora, hiking and biking with grizzlies, dangerous cold, awesome fish and caribou and whales and puffins, in the Interior- 22-hour sun and 22-hour dark. I’m new to California so my new friend told me about the adventures one can pursue in the surf and offshore and the coastal landscape of Monterey and points south. Poised and confident and experienced; it was exciting to hear her stories. I asked her to show me some hats and shirts with designs that would show the spirit of Somewhere to those around me. She helped me do so and I’m very thankful and happy with my pelican hat showing my desire to fly free on the wind, knowing that I can always catch my own food myself when I must. Her natural attractive bearing and skills with customers made me feel good, and when I wear the hat I will remember her as part of a day in Carmel that exceeded my expectations. Can’t say enough about the positive vibes and energy and power emanating from the people of Somewhere. Thanks, V.!!! Thanks, everyone else!! Let’s go!!! Destination unknown!!!
