1 /5 Ginna Ayala: I usually visit this Ross (store #2163, University & Goldenrod) very often because it’s close to my home. I have never had any problems here — not in this location or any other Ross — until today.
As any mother who takes care of her young child, I went into the fitting room with my 9-year-old daughter while she was trying on some clothes. When I opened the fitting room door, thinking she was almost done, I saw a male employee named Steve standing right in front of the door, looking inside the fitting room while my daughter was still getting dressed.
It doesn’t matter what she was putting on — a man should never stand at the door looking into a fitting room while a child is inside. You wait until the person comes out, and then you close the fitting room. That’s basic respect and common sense.
If he thought I was doing something wrong or taking merchandise, the cameras clearly show that I had no purse or bag, and I had no intention of stealing anything. You can review the security footage to confirm what I’m saying.
My daughter is nine years old, and this situation was extremely uncomfortable and inappropriate. As a mother, I will always protect my children, and I will not stay silent about something like this.
This is very disappointing, especially because this store is frequently visited by women and young girls. Please be careful with this employee named Steve, who works in this Ross location.
I also want to thank the manager who was on duty at the time. Unfortunately, I didn’t get her name, but she was very kind, listened to my complaint, and gave me the number I could call to make a formal report. She also notified the manager on duty about what happened.
This is not about being dramatic or trying to complain just to complain — I truly go to this Ross all the time, and I’ve never had any kind of problem before.
What really disturbed me was his attitude — the fact that he never moved away from the door while my daughter was inside. That was extremely uncomfortable and completely inappropriate.
