Platos Closet - (Near Rochester Hills, MI)

1 /5 Margaret Beyer: Honestly, I’m done wasting my time at this Plato’s Closet. I bring in super nice, barely worn name-brand stuff—Abercrombie, Old Navy, Topshop, even a few things still with tags—and they never take anything, which would be fine were it not for the rude staff and general appearance of the store being overall poor. On the rare occasion they do, they offer you pocket change for it. Meanwhile, the girls working there are too busy gossiping and snacking behind the counter to actually pay attention. And the stuff they’re selling? Total junk. Half of it looks like it’s been sitting in someone’s closet since 2012. I don’t get how they turn down trendy, quality clothes and fill the racks with that. Definitely not worth the effort anymore. I will not be back.

4 /5 SpidersInMyBed: My daughters frequent this store and and are always excited when they plan a visit so one day I tagged along. My first impression was it was just another thrift store and while it is, the quality of the selection is upper par. Everything was current and trendy, definitely not the items youd find at a salvation army or goodwill. However dont expect those low prices either. Obviously the prices are lower than retail and it appears all the clothing is in very nice condition and from what I was told they do not sell clothing that is more than a couple seasons old (gotta keep up with the styles), so your paying for quality. Dont get me wrong, Im not implying that they are expensive, but dont expect to buy a shirt for $4 either. The store itself is set up about as nicely as a thrift store can be, the staff was pretty much late teen girls that greeted us when we came in but that was about the extent of it. My daughters found a few items and I actually found a nice shirt and we walked out with 5 items for $100. Also, they do buy clothes but they must be in great condition and current.

1 /5 Miranda Ureche: I was shopping and I noticed them not paying attention to my clothes while sorting and just throwing them on the counter and they were talking and not paying attention. When I went to pick up my clothes they were extremely unprofessional, they were sitting on the floor eating all 3 of them. They gave me $10 and told me to grab my box which was behind the counter behind a bunch of other boxes. When I said my boxes were behind other people’s boxes and behind the counter, they said okay let me grab them and the associate asked another worker to help and she stated “I’m not helping you I’m on my break” they continued to go back forth for 2 minutes while I was just standing there waiting. This was extremely unprofessional and makes me not want to come back

1 /5 Morgan Tass: Went into this Plato’s closet location today and was given a hard time instead of just letting us bring our items in the bag they were in we had to go buy a box to bring them in then while we were in the store waiting one of the workers followed us around the entire time. We had one very small purse and it was 3 of us and of course the only black people in the store. to ensure I was assuming correctly about the worker following us, I went over to the men’s section and she was standing right on the side of me again. I will never shop there again and I will be sure to tell people to not come to this location.

1 /5 Brittney: This used to be one of my favorite stores but the employees make it such an odd/awkward experience. The whole time you shop all they do is have overly loud conversations and when I go in the fitting room all I hear EVERY SINGLE time is them pretending to be cool trash talking people (friends/other coworkers that aren’t there) as if the whole store can’t hear. Last time I was there I went to check out and it seemed to startle the girl she said: “oh…” and gave me a weird look. Then asked why I was up there. Hmmm if I have a pile of clothes… just maybe idk to check out lmao. They acted as though I interrupted their “gossip sesh” I swear they forget they’re at work sometimes.
